Hats for Small Heads

So, I took that Spunky handspun and made some baby hats. One for our baby and one for Jon and Kelly's baby (Nate's best friend, they're expecting a girl 2 weeks after us!).

Baby hats are so quick to knit, and cute too. I started a little baby dress too. More handspun, of course! All those single skeins of handspun in pretty colors, they have found their destination.

Baby Hat Recipe, Ultra-quick worsted-aran weight.

Handspun yarn, about 2 oz will easily make a hat

Size 8 DPNs

CO 56 stitches

Knit til' you have 5 inches of hat

Start decreasing

Decreases: 1st row, k6 k2tog til end of row
2nd row, k5 k2tog til end of row
3rd row, k4 k2tog til end of row
4th row, k3 k2tog til end of row
5th row, k2 k2tog til end of row
6th row, k1 k2tog til end of row
7th row, k2tog til end of row

Cut yarn, leaving 6 inch tail, thread tail through remaining 7 sts on needle, pull tight, and weave in ends!

Cuteness in 2 hrs or so.

Oh yeah, and more baby sockies too. This time with some handspun.

Very cute and useful items. I am big on useful, colorful and attractive items even for the youngest of babies. It treats them with respect they're due. You will never catch me knitting devil tailed pantaloons or 'baby's first tattoo'.
