1 year of Teleknitter! (and a contest too...)

So yeah, it's been a full year of blogging action here at Teleknitter! And, to celebrate, I'm having a little contest. I pulled out the Kate with the 3 bobbins of spin-in-progress (of course bobbin 4 is on the wheel, with more spin on it), took a few photos, and here ya go:

Three bobbins with wool....three bobbins half (or more) full!

What is on them, what do you see?

Take a moment, and tell me.

Three types of wool, which might they be?

One is handyed, one is not, one is handpainted, but not by me.

So take a gander, a guess,

And let me know which color is what, who and why!

Just leave a comment with what you think each of the three types is, the white, the light blue, and the dark blue, and which one of the blues you think I dyed.

You'll win if you're right!*
(Comments for the contest to be closed in one week, on Tuesday 8/22/06)

What will you win? You're choice of one the three handspun yarns (finished, of course)! Or, if you're a spinner and prefer it....roving!

*Of course, if no one is right, or if many people are right, some kind of name drawing in the hat dealy is going to be required. Note...I'm betting that I talked either on the knittyboards or in earlier blog posts about what my spinnin-in-progress is...so if you're so motivated to dig and read, you might have a better shot at a correct answer.

heeeeeeee wool from a sheep x3!

c'mon, I know you at least know BFL and Merino!

So....which one did I dye?

Oh, I get it Zibby doesn't want my handspun yarn!

this is too hard for me! Zib stole my answer.

You dyed the dark blue one.

The white is blue-faced leister
The dark blue is merino
The light blue is corridale

(why? I haven't a clue but those are three wool names that I know!)

Woo! Happy Anni!

I can't keep track of all your spinning projects! But I love reading your "fiber reviews" It's like the spinners equivalent to Turtlegirl's Yarn Porn Friday.

Sooo.....here's my completely random and unresearched guesses:

I guess that you dyed the light blue one, although my answer below would contradict this.

The white one is from the coat of an albino camel from the Northern Sahara.

The blue one is from a Sub Arctic Yeti ("Sub Arctic" because he does venture down below the Arctic Circle to buy cases of TP every now and then--you can't use ice and snow for that job!)

And finally the light blue one is from an asthmatic merino sheep. It's blue because the poor guy has a hard time breathing.

I looked back a couple months. Lots of kitties, doggies, scenery. Some spinning, but it was soysilk, mohair, etc.

OK, the white is not dyed. (duh.)
The lighter blue and white is hand-dyed by you.

The darker blue is hand-painted, but not by you. It's the merino roving from the socks in June.

The white may be _________?

The light blue is churro from near you?

At 11:37 AM, Blogger Valerie said...

I think you dyed the light blue, and it's Churro.

The white is BFL.

The dark blue is merino.

Congrats on the 1st Anniversary!

My guesses:
White= BFL
Blue= Merino (hand dyed by you)
Turquoise= Churro (hand dyed not by you)

I think you dyed the dark blue and the light blue is handpainted.

I don't know my sheep, but I have to say that the results are lovely.

Happy Blogiversary!

Happy blog-iversary!

So, here are my guesses:
White: BFL
Dark Blue: Merino, hand dyed.
Light Blue: Hand painted, a coarse wool breed.Maybe Icelandic, or Churro.

Ok, here goes!

The light blue is the "quasi-felted pain-in-the-butt-to-draft churro" - handpainted

The dark blue is handdyed merino.

The white is BFL, undyed.

Happy Blogiversary!

My guesses? What Valerie said. :)

I say you dyed the light blue and it's churro.

The dark blue is painted but not by you and it's BFL.

The white looks fuzzier than the blue so I'll guess it's merino.

Ahhh this is too hard not being able to touch/see the fibres. Not that that would help. ;)

Congrats on the anniversary!

Okee dokey,
Dark Blue = Merino
White/Cream = BFL
Light blue = Corridale

I'd say you dyed the dark blue, which I have to say is an amazing lovely color.

Yay!

The light blue I'm guessing that you dyed yourself, and that it's mohair locks. (Unless you're saying that it IS from three sheepies, in which case I'm voting for Churro.)

The dark blue is merino, possibly superwash, and the white is BFL.

did I guess it? did I guess it?

I wanna go again!

Happy Anniversary!!

Hmmm...

1) from a sheep
1) from a goat
1) from a bunny!

congrats on 1 year!

I'm going to go WAY out on a limb here and guess (since I really have no clue)

white: corriedale
dark blue: merino that you dyed
light blue: BFL that someone else hand painted
